It was later confirmed that Mascolo would reappear in the role officially in 2007, along with costars Thaao Penghlis ( Tony DiMera) and Leann Hunley ( Anna DiMera). Though some sources list Mascolo in the cast credits for the episodes, neither Mascolo nor NBC have ever stated that he portrayed comatose Stefano. A deathly ill, comatose Stefano began appearing on December 19, 2006. The series' producers later confirmed plans to revive the DiMera family to stop a decline in ratings. In 2006, following Mascolo's exit from B&B due to lack of storyline, reports began to surface claiming that Mascolo was going to reprise his role as Stefano. Return to Days and storyline-dictated exit Though Mascolo initially denied the reports, he did indeed debut in the role of Massimo Marone on The Bold and the Beautiful in August 2001. Mascolo made his last official appearance on June 14, 2001. Though Mascolo seemed disappointed with the show's decision to write the character out briefly, executive producer Ken Corday revealed plans to bring the character back by the fall of 2001 whether Mascolo was available or not. They now feel that the character of Stefano should take a rest – as if Stefano ever rests. Usually, one expects some give and take but the powers that be are adamant. My contract is up in May and I tried to negotiate in good faith. In May 2001, Mascolo took to his website to confirm the news: Days later, Mascolo was spotted at CBS's The Bold and the Beautiful despite the reports, neither Mascolo, NBC or CBS would comment on the rumors. In April 2001, rumors of Mascolo's exit due to failed contract negotiations began to surface once again and the producers were apparently considering recasting the role. However, a representative of Mascolo's took to the website to deny the reports. In February 2001, a post on Mascolo's official website revealed that contract negotiations were not going well and Mascolo was expected to last appear the coming May. Mascolo reclaimed the role on a contractual basis on September 17, 1993. Actor Frank Fata appeared in the role of Stefano for two episodes which aired on December 3 and 4, 1991. Mascolo briefly returned to the series from November 4 to December 19, 1988. He departed from the series on March 8, 1983, and returned a year later on Mabefore briefly departing on only to return on October 19 of the same year and depart again on February 22, 1985. Mascolo first appeared as Stefano on January 18, 1982. In the early 1980s, then head writer, Pat Falken Smith created the role specifically for Mascolo after seeing his performance as real-life crime boss, Salvatore Maranzano on the NBC miniseries, The Gangster Chronicles in 1981. Throughout his 34 year run, Stefano became one of the most recognizable figures in daytime television and is considered to be one of the greatest villains in television history. During this time, Stefano's obsession with Marlena resurfaces and he also sets out to clone himself. Meanwhile, Stefano tries to help his adopted daughter Kristen ( Eileen Davidson) steal John from Marlena by fathering a child with her look-a-like Susan Banks (Davidson) and passing it off as John's. He becomes obsessed with Roman's ex-wife and John's longtime love Marlena Evans ( Deidre Hall), and accidentally causes her to be possessed by the devil. Stefano returns in 1993 for a longer stint. Stefano's early storylines included his feud with Roman Brady ( Wayne Northrop), playing his children – Tony and Renée DuMonde ( Philece Sampler) against one another when he is presumed dead, orchestrating a series of murders with his son (then his nephew) and Tony's deranged look-a-like André, and replacing the presumed dead Roman with the brainwashed John Black ( Drake Hogestyn). I work in a big-city University Hospital where that kind of presentation does not bode well. But all Macs are wearing a very tired, sore groan. Apple mobile hardware is all recovering with big happy smiles. Forgive me if I am wrong, but doesn't removing Mavericks make every Mac on the market redundant? All desktops ship with redundant Recovery. That 'recovery' download fails every time. Command-R or ⌘-R brings us to where we reinstall Mac OS X. I have two words for this interesting thread: TOO SECURE. Now all I need is to save up for PT 12 (or probably 13 by the time I can afford it) and move on. Well, the good part is I now have a good, clean backup and another, slightly old one on an external (not connected) drive, something I was meaning to do soon anyway. it never occurred to me that Apple would restrict access to Mavericks! Silly me. I cloned its boot drive then moved it into a free drive slot in the 2010 Mac Pro, from where I was able to update to Mtn. This Mac replaces a Mac Pro 1,1 running Lion (10.7.5) which was as far as it could go. (I suspect that even if I take the Mac in, they might not be able to do the upgrade anyway.) They mentioned that while they had access to Apple the installers were part of one large bundle and they couldn't separate out just one OS and the bundle needed the Machine ID to perform an upgrade. They would not upgrade to an external disk, either. I did go to the Apple Store, with a flash drive in hand, but was told they needed the computer to do the install. ![]() (I had forgotten this was user user your reply to the OP left me the impression you had something to do with Apple. But because "Stuff Happens", make sure any Mac you take with you is backed up. Again, it might be best to use an external disk as the Mavericks destination. If you have another Mac that is old enough to run Mavericks, take that Mac with you. You can also use SuperDuper, Carbon Copy Cloner or Disk Utility -> Restore to transfer the contents of the bootable external disk to any other bootable partition you want. Then you can boot from the external disk when you get home. We do not have any control over Apple policies.Ĭan you call the Apple store back and ask if they could do the install to an external disk, where you ONLY bring the disk with you. This is a user-to-user technical support forum. I know I am not the only person in this situation is there any way that Apple could reintroduce the Mavericks update? Was the OS really so bad that Apple doesn't want anyone to use it ever again? That is definitely not the best solution - I live miles away from the closest store and since the computer is the heart of my audio studio I would need to have at least one day off to tear it down, take it in, then add it back into the system. I talked to a manager at a local Apple store and after consulting with his techs he told me that they could do the update if I brought in my Mac Pro. Without paying for a full upgrade to PT 12 I thought my best bet would be to go to the one OS version both companies could agree on, Mavericks, only to find that option barred to me. On the other hand, DropBox has decided to drop support for Mac OS Mountain Lion or below. Now, Pro Tools 10 cannot run on anything past Mavericks with any certainty (actually, it's a disaster), although it worlks well with Mavericks. I also use DropBox to send music to clients and collaborators (mostly the latter these days. I use this machine for Pro Tools v.10.3.10. Here's my situation: I have a 2010 Mac Pro 5,5, running Mountain Lion (and Sierra on a separate drive). Sierra is limited to the following machines: MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer). The requirements for Mountain Lion and El Capitan are: Your only other upgrade is Mountain Lion (10.8) which is available in the USA (but not the UK) in the Apple Store: Note that if your Mac is capable of handling Sierra this link is not available to you. If it isn't, but is capable of handling El Capitan you can upgrade to that using this special link: If your Mac is capable of handling Sierra you can upgrade to that for free. I'm afraid Mavericks is no longer available. The folks at have created a tool called RKill that does exactly that. This won’t remove it, but it may allow you to download tools that will. One possible solution to the blocking problem is to temporarily kill the malware. If it doesn’t detect and remove it, or if you can’t run Windows Defender Offline, or if you just want to keep scouring your machine with additional tools, there are other tactics. Hopefully, it will detect and remove the malware that’s causing your problem. Let the tool perform a thorough scan of your machine. Your computer will reboot and run Microsoft Defender Offline. Scan options showing Microsoft Defender Offline scan. Click on Scan options, select “Microsoft Defender Offline scan”, and finally click Scan now. Click on Virus & threat protection when it appears. In previous versions of Windows, this involved downloading and running Windows Defender Offline, 1 but it’s built into Windows Security in Windows 10.Ĭlick the Start button and search for “offline scan”. I recommend that you begin by running an offline malware scan. You’d love to download and run up-to-date anti-malware tools, but you can’t. When it sees you doing anything that could lead to its removal, it steps in to cause the operation to fail or to redirect you to sites of its choosing. It’s even monitoring what programs you run. It’s watching for downloads that look like anti-malware tools, and web (or other) access that might be going to anti-malware sites. What you’re seeing is the malware on your machine actively watching for you to try to remove it and thwarting your attempts. When all else fails, the nuclear option of a reformat and reinstall is the most pragmatic, last-ditch effort. If still unsuccessful, restore to the most recent image backup taken prior to the infection. If that fails, try other anti-malware tools. If needed, move on to RKill, which kills much of the malware that may be stopping you, and allow you to run the anti-malware tools you have. Malware can interfere with your attempts to remove it. There are also changes to the interface, including options for levels of lens softness correction, as well as the ability to toggle vignetting and chromatic aberration corrections. As a result, X-Trans images can undergo incredible noise reduction, remarkable detail enhancement, and the restoration of accurate colors, especially when shooting at high ISO levels. However, with DxO PureRAW 3, Fujifilm X Series photographers will be delighted to learn that their cameras are supported, a development reflected in DxO PhotoLab 6.4, also released today. Until this release, DeepPRIME XD did not process raw files from cameras with an X-Trans sensor. This technology pushes the boundaries even further, and DxO PureRAW 3 will revolutionize any photographer’s images - and without disrupting their existing workflow.” “We quickly realized that a larger neural network could boost performance, and that’s what we’ve delivered with DeepPRIME XD. “DeepPRIME almost surprised us when we first saw the results,” explains DxO’s VP of Marketing and Product Strategy, Jean-Marc Alexia. The original DeepPRIME mode remains part of DxO PureRAW 3 for images that demand less enhancement or where faster performance is required. For example, images shot at ISO 4,000 more closely resemble those captured at ISO 500 in terms of noise, color, and clarity.īecause noise reduction is performed as part of the raw conversion process, DeepPRIME XD can also improve the dynamic range of an image, giving photographers greater flexibility when shooting in challenging situations where light is limited. The big change in this latest version is a new and improved methodology for improving raw files. With DeepPRIME XD, beta users report improvements of more than 2.5 stops in noise performance. DxO, with its large library of thousands of sensor and lens combinations, will improve the image before you start to edit. The Capture One 22 15.2.0 update is available now.If you're not familiar with the software, it processes raw files and should be the first stage of your editing process.
